Draga Ljocic- First female doctor in Serbia

Draga was born in 1855 in Sabac, Serbia into a family of salesmen. She finished Womens High School in Belgrade, and then went on to study medicine in Zurich, when the first war between Serbia and Turkey began, she quit her studies and went to help. When the second war between Turkey and Serbia ended, she want back to complete her studies. She worked and helped in all wars Serbia led during the time frame of 1976 to 1977, which included two wars between Serbia and Turkey, a war between Bulgaria and Serbia, both Balkan wars and WWI. During many of these wars, she was often one of the only doctors in hospitals and she contributed greatly.

She was not only the first female doctor and a great humanitarian and patriot, she also fought greatly for women's rights, she demanded that women in Serbia get a voice, and she devoted her whole life towards helping her country and promoting womens rights. She was truly a pioneer in Serbian history.
